The Rockomax "Skipper" Liquid Engine is a 2.5m liquid fuel engine used to provide thrust for medium sized rockets and middle stages. It is typically fueled by large diameter rocket fuel tanks like the Rockomax X200-32 Fuel Tank and especially Rockomax Jumbo-64 Fuel Tank.
Product description
| “ | The smaller sibling of the Mainsail, the Skipper's power rivals that of... large cities. Combining high thrust with reasonable efficiency, this engine excels when used as a mid-stage booster. — Rockomax Conglomerate |

Usage
The Skipper is a large-diameter rocket engine which fills the gap between the RE-L10 "Poodle" Liquid Fuel Engine and the RE-M3 "Mainsail" Liquid Fuel Engine. It is about three times as powerful as the Poodle while in turn having a bit more than a third of the power of the Mainsail. Its fuel efficiency and mass are also in between these two; its Isp is higher than the Poodle and lower than the Mainsail at 1 atm, but lower than the Poodle and higher than the Mainsail in vacuum. This makes it a good engine for intermediate stages of heavy lift rockets.
Trivia
- After the revamp in 1.9, the Skipper was switched to a new config file. The old file can be found at Parts/Engine/liquidEngineSkipper/skipperLiquidEngine.cfg.
- While it previously offered inferior performance compared with clusters of LV-T30 "Reliant" Liquid Fuel Engine and LV-T45 "Swivel" Liquid Fuel Engine engines, this is no longer the case.
Changes
- New texture and variants
- Mass decreased from 4 to 3, cost increased from 850 to 2850, specific impulse increased from 300-350 to 320-370.
