The Command Pod Mk1 houses the Kerbal crew during their mission. At least one is required to build any kind of rocket.

Usage

Generally placed at the top of the rocket, the aim of the game is to get your crew into space and land them safely again back on the surface of Kerbin.

Command pods provide basic control and SAS-like functionality at this time. This is often sufficient for smaller rockets, though larger ones will require additional control systems.

You cannot create a launch-able rocket without picking a command module, created after opening the VAB or creating a new rocket, at this juncture.

Description

Originally built as a placeholder for a demonstration mock-up of a rocket, the Mk1 Command Pod was heralded as a far safer and more reliable option than it's predecessors by rocket scientists throughout the world. It is now commonly seen in active service.
