The O-10 MonoPropellant Engine is the first stock reaction engine which uses monopropellant but is throttleable like liquid fuel engines.
Contents
[hide]Usage
The engine is throttleable and doesn't react on the lateral movement commands for the normal RCS. It does not show the fuel meter beside the staging icon.
The specific impulse is identical to the LV-1R Liquid Fuel Engine which can be placed radially too. Because monopropellant does not require plumbing to transfer the fuel from the tank to the engines, it is possible to place that engine on any part.
Because this part doesn't work like RCS the infinite fuel option needs to be activated in the Debug Toolbar to have infinite fuel.
Despite the listed mass, the part has the "PhysicsSignificance = 1" flag, and is therefore massless and dragless.
Description
“ | When The O-10 Engine was first unveiled, it was regarded as one of those ideas that someone should have thought of a long time ago. This made most employees at Reaction Systems Ltd. feel quite awkward, as they were particularly proud of having delivered this project on schedule for once. This Engine responds to main throttle controls, but it consumes MonoPropellant instead of a Fuel+Oxidizer mix. — Reaction Systems Ltd. |

Trivia
- The part configuration is in a directory named OMSEngine which might be a reference to the Space Shuttle's Orbital Maneuvering System which used a hypergolic fuel to perform orbital maneuvers.
